Dog Handler Name* First Last Email* Best Phone Number*Adoption Day Guidelines for Dog HandlersCheck-in with TVAR Adoption Day Lead Volunteer on arrival at each session. Handlers must be members of TVAR in good standing for insurance purposes. No one under the age of sixteen (16) is to hold a dog without direct adult supervision. One foster dog per handler. Immediately contact an Adoption Day Lead Volunteer if your dog shows any sign of stress or inappropriate behavior. All dogs must have choke chain/pinch collar and be under control by the handler at all times. Foster parents are responsible for holding their dog until it is handed off to an authorized handler. To avoid dog bites, feed only consumable “treats” for dogs inside the adoption day “ropes”. No food or chew bones. Even the most non-aggressive dog can snap when it feels its food/possession is being challenged. Conduct canine “introductions” and interactions between foster dogs outside the roped area to minimize effect on other dogs and public inside the roped area. Potential adopters taking a dog outside of the roped area should be accompanied by a TVAR volunteer at all times. Handlers are required to wear some form of TVAR identification, i.e. badges, t-shirts, etc. At all times, remember that you are representing Tri-Valley Animal Rescue to the public and act accordingly. Volunteers need to help set-up and break-down the event. Anyone who is not handling their own foster dog should contact TVAR lead to discuss specific adoption policies/procedures. Foster parents not yet familiar with the adoption process should request assistance from a TVAR Lead Volunteer. Members of the TVAR Teen/Junior Program (min age 16) must have a signed parental release form on file to participate as a handler. If you plan to bring your foster dog and/or participate as a handler, please contact TVAR Adoption Day Dog Handler Coordinator about your availability by noon on Wednesday so dogs and handlers can be matched up for the upcoming Adoption Day on Saturday. In addition to the above guidelines, handler understands that TVAR is required to comply with the Conditions of Use of Delucci Park issued by the City of Pleasanton (copy posted in trailer).
